In January we will get more people signing up to our website than at any other time as people resolve to make positive and meaningful changes to their lives. Unfortunately only a small percentage of those people will go on to invest in property
Why is that?
Because setting out your plans for the year feels important, fun and exciting.
Unfortunately people either fail or give up. It’s easy to write down goals but what’s the point if they end up gathering dust?
Here we look at 4 ways you can make sure your year in property ends in success not failure.
1. Allocate Time.
Once you have set out your goals for the year, allocate some time every week to work on them. Allocating a time slot each week to work on your property investment goals will immediately increase your chances of success.
2. Overstretching yourself.
It’s important to set big goals that challenge you, but don’t expect them to fall into place within a few days. Make your big goals more achievable by breaking them down into manageable chunks and tackle them on a week by week, or month by month basis.
3. Get Smart.
When you set your goals, make sure they are SMART goals. SMART stands for:
Having a goal like “I want to be wealthy” is pointless. Instead, create a SMART goal like “I want to earn £30,000 pa from my property portfolio by the time I’m 50”.
Make sure all your goals are set this way. There is a big difference between a silly goal and a smart goal, make sure you understand the difference.
4. Work with others.
This may be the most important step of all; the thought of embarking on property investment alone can be intimidating. Questions like where to start and how to start will be amongst many others you may have. Trying to work it through by yourself will be costly in time and money. That’s why it’s important to take advice and work with experts who have trodden the path before you.
